Laverton School is seeking a Teacher - K – 12 to join their high-quality regional school.
About the role
As a K – 12 Teacher, the successful applicant will ideally possess the capacity to provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging and differentiated to cater for a range of learning needs. You will ideally have the ability to deliver the Western Australian Curriculum and have an excellent understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework. We seek teachers who have strong classroom management and skills to engage students successfully. The ability to build positive relationships with students and their families will greatly enhance your effectiveness in this role.
The successful applicant will deliver DOTT provision throughout the school (K-12). The teaching areas of this role will be negotiated depending on the suitable applicant’s experience and passions, however a background in Visual Art, Music, Science or Digital Technologies would be considered an advantage in this role. In addition, you will provide in-class support where the timetable allows.

Our school
Laverton School is located in the centre of Laverton Town (population of approximately 350 people), nestled in the far Northern Goldfields of Western Australia. Wongi people, collectively known as Wongutha or Wankatja people, have occupied the Laverton area for thousands of years.
The school has strong connections with organisations such as the Stephen Michael Foundation, Shooting Stars, Shire of Laverton Youth Development Program, WAPOL and the local mining industry.
Laverton school is a very attractive Remote school with many services within the town, including youth club, sports facilities, gym, hospital, caravan park, police station, well supplied shop and fuel station (including 24-hour fuel supplies), volunteer organisations (eg. St John Ambulance), sports club, café and takeaway. Skippers Aviation service Laverton with three flights per week to and from Perth and with Kalgoorlie-Boulder just a drive away and with Laverton being part of the Golden Quest Discovery Trail, there are ample opportunities for trips on weekends and/or holidays.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
