Busselton Senior High School (BSHS) is seeking to appoint an experienced Maths Teacher with the ability to engage students at all levels of the learning continuum. In addition to Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) identified students, a firm understanding of developing numeracy in all students is required.
The successful applicant will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team in delivering rich, engaging, and challenging educational programs to a diverse student cohort. To be successful in this role, you should ideally be student and relationship focused, goal oriented, innovative, and able to work effectively in a team environment. With effective interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills, you will work closely with students, parents, and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for our students.
As part of your standard practice, you should reflect on and assess the effectiveness of your teaching practices and promote an environment of active and positive learning and collaboration. You will provide relevant and engaging educational opportunities and activities that will enable students to achieve to the highest of their potential. Creating and promoting an environment conducive to active and positive learning, and which caters for different student learning needs, is essential. In addition, the ability to engage students using a range of instructional approaches, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices is required. Knowledge of Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) is highly desirable, but not essential.
The successful applicant should, ideally, in addition to having the secondary Maths teaching experience, have an appreciation and understanding of the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) data and possess a genuine desire to help students from diverse backgrounds.

Busselton is a coastal city approximately 230 km south of Perth and is part of the South West region of Western Australia.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirments; and
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
