Halls Head College is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to fill the position of Teacher - Home Economics.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience in delivery of lower school Home Economics - transferrable skills across a range of technologies such as textiles will also be highly regarded. In this role you will plan and implement high quality lessons that engage students and inspire an interest in Home Economics with a view to develop and offer General Home Economics for year 11 and 12 students.

The Teacher - Home Economics will ideally be flexible, student, and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative, and able to work effectively in a team environment. They should possess an engaging and energetic teaching style, promoting an environment of active and positive learning in their classroom. The successful applicant should be committed to providing high quality, and diverse learning opportunities and activities for all students, enabling each of them to make connections with the ‘real world’ and develop the skills needed to be successful at school and in the future. Flexibility and a willingness to teach outside of the Home Economics area if required will also be highly regarded.

Halls Head College is uniquely situated on the 'island' of Halls Head just south of Mandurah. The local intake area of Halls Head College is south, close to the Waroona Shire boundary. The contributory primary schools are Glencoe, Halls Head, Falcon, South Halls Head and Ocean Road. The College provides a secondary education for students who live in the rapidly growing coastal strip, South of Mandurah.

The College is engaged in building more dynamic, engaging, and authentic learning opportunities for every student to build currency for life beyond and to reflect our motto 'Learning for Life.' Creating a learning environment for staff is also an important aspect that is being promoted at the College to ensure staff are engaged and immersed in learning. Our staff have a wealth of expertise, experience, and a genuine desire to constantly improve their practice to benefit all students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
