Appointment Pool
North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre (NEMLDC) is seeking to establish a pool of Early Childhood Education Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.

NEMLDC is a specialist school for children who have Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). We provide specialist speech, language and academic intervention for children from Kindergarten to Year 2. Staff members work within an interdisciplinary team that includes teachers, speech pathologists, occupational therapist, school psychologist, education assistants and the administration staff. Our specialised, evidenced-based, early intervention language programs are planned collaboratively. Our individualised specialist language programs are integrated across the Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework.
Suitable applicants will work within a collaborative team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and possess a strong evidence-based approach to teaching. As an Early Childhood Education Teacher, you will provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging and differentiated to cater for the specific needs of all students with language learning difficulties. You will also ideally use innovative technologies to enhance student learning. In addition, you will have a good understanding of and be able to deliver the Western Australian Curriculum and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Suitable applicants offered a position will be provided with intensive, specific training and induction to develop their skills and understanding of DLD and how to best support the needs of the students. You will also be provided ongoing support and learning through allocated coaches, performance development and collaborative learning.
To be suitable for this pool you will ideally be flexible, energetic and prepared to engage in partnerships with teacher colleagues, speech pathologists, parents and other agencies. The ability to apply current evidence-based research to classroom practice is highly desirable. Suitable applicants will be provided with the necessary professional learning including the Hanen Early Language Programs. We are seeking teachers with strong classroom and positive behaviour support skills to successfully engage students and facilitate their learning. You will also ideally use innovative technologies to enhance student learning.
NEMLDC has close to 300 students and operates across three campuses which are co-located with West Morley, Beechboro and North Balga Primary Schools. Classes are small in size and supported by a range of staff. Teachers may be placed at any campus and may change sites over time. Staff are student focused, with high expectations, and value the building of strong working relationships with our community.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
