Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/TCH750420

This is a six (6) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2022 with possible extension and/or permanency

East Fremantle Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Physical Education Teacher to join their team.

East Fremantle PS forms an important part of the bedrock for our community; its buildings, location, people and their relationships make it a special place of excellence, learning and achievement. Together with our school community, we nurture and develop each child’s individuality, encouraging them to achieve their personal best in all areas.

At East Fremantle PS we deliver the West Australian curriculum but our purpose is much more than this. We strive to provide a positive, enriching and engaging school experience for each student with a range of resources, programs and support. Physical Education is highly valued and the sport program encompasses the usual curriculum delivery but also fitness club before school and practice sessions before carnivals. Our carnivals are highly popular and supported by our parent community. There is scope for a teacher with a special interest in a particular sport to develop this at the school.

Ultimately, at East Fremantle PS, we aim to develop students’ fundamental movement skills to give them the confidence to participate in a range of sport and physical activities. This creates an opportunity for ongoing participation across their lifespan, providing them access to the many positive physical, social and mental health outcomes associated with regular physical activity and involvement in community sport.

The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic in the promotion of Physical Education and Health within the school. The successful applicant should be well organised, motivated and committed to developing positive relationships and high expectations for all students. Knowledge and competency in the Physical and Health Education component of the Western Australian Curriculum and reporting schedule is highly desirable. The successful applicant will ideally work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and have a strong evidence based teaching approach to this specialist learning area.

We take pride in attracting and retaining dedicated, experienced, caring and innovative staff who continually provide high quality, stimulating and challenging learning opportunities for all students. Our Business Plan details our areas of priority and targets which include specialist teachers being an integral part of our school. Our parent body have an active role in classrooms and programs and support us daily. Our teachers must be prepared to embrace this at East Fremantle Primary School.
