Morley Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a Teacher of Mathematics to join their staff.

Morley SHS's vision is to celebrate diversity and cater for the needs of all students, with the goal of everyone achieving their personal best.  We strive to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations in a supportive, engaging and vibrant learning environment.

Students in Years 7 to 10 have access to engaging programs, including Department of Education approved specialist programs in our Aviation Academy and School of Screen and Media.  All students in Years 7 to 9 also study a language and have the opportunity to participate in activities associated without exchange partnerships with sister schools in Japan, China and Singapore.

The successful applicant should be an expert, passionate teacher of Mathematics, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.  You should be able to display an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum, and experience in developing and delivering a broad spectrum of secondary Mathematics curriculum, and a wide range of teaching models.  You should also be able to display the ability to differentiate the curriculum in an engaging and relevant manner. Ideally you will be innovative and inclusive and able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment for students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12.  The successful applicant will be highly proficient in motivating and engaging students and able to display the effective use of ICT in the teaching of Mathematics.

We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative individual who is committed to working effectively as part of a team.  The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills and be relationship-focused.  Building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role.  You should have a strong evidence-based approach to teaching and be reflective in assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and able to demonstrate that your pedagogy has actively resulted in improved outcomes and progression for your students.  Graduate teachers are encouraged to apply.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
