Are you passionate about educating young minds?

Deanmore Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a motivated engaging Chinese Languages Teacher to join their friendly team.

The successful applicant will ideally have an in depth understanding of the Western Australian Languages Curriculum and contemporary pedagogical practices to support second language learning. The successful applicant should have knowledge in teaching the Chinese Language, classroom teaching and high level Chinese speaking, reading and writing skills. The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated and committed to creating an effective, engaging, inclusive, and innovative learning environment for all students to achieve their potential.

Our specialised team of staff encourage students to confidently embrace challenges and become resilient life-long learners. Our school vision is underpinned by a school community focus on challenging and supporting each student to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.  We are proudly a Positive Behaviour Support school.

Our staff structure opportunities for students to explore, create and investigate.  We use an explicit teaching model in all subjects across the school.  All staff in our school engage in classroom observations, coaching, peer observations and feedback.  Applicants will demonstrate a wiliness to reflect and collaborate in order to grow their practice.

Deanmore PS caters for approximately 500 students, from Kindergarten to Year 6. The specialist programs at our school including LOTE (Chinese) are seen as important parts of the curriculum.

School buildings are modern and the school grounds are attractive. The school is well resourced and all our students use a range of digital equipment, iPads, computers and laptops. Our school also has a covered assembly area, canteen, library resource centre and facilities for music, art, and craft.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
