Halls Head College is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and hard-working English Teacher to join its dynamic team.
The successful applicant will ideally be highly effective in engaging and motivating students through the creation of an effective environment conducive to learning. Educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant and that cater for different student learning needs should be highlighted in the application. Applicants should utilise evidence-based teaching practices to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. A range of assessment and reporting methods which provide a variety of opportunities for our students to learn and display their knowledge should be employed.
The position requires a teacher who works in consultation with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff, and community members to achieve the best educational outcomes for our students. The applicant should display effective interpersonal skills and the fostering of positive relationships.
The suitable applicant should actively participate in professional learning opportunities. Continual reflection on classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching for ongoing improvement is required. The applicant will support the English Learning Area team to strategically meet the learning needs of all our students studying the English curriculum, including students with disabilities and special needs. Commitment to ensuring our College vision and Business Plan Targets are fore-fronted in your teaching is important.
Whilst Senior School and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) experience will be looked on favourably it is not a prerequisite. Also favourably viewed would be enthusiastic new graduates. Halls Head has intensive and embedded support for Graduates where their professional growth is supported via ongoing mentoring and professional learning.
Halls Head College is uniquely situated on the 'island' of Halls Head just south of Mandurah. The local intake area of Halls Head College is south, close to the Waroona Shire boundary. The contributory primary schools are Glencoe, Halls Head, Falcon, South Halls Head and Ocean Road. The college provides a secondary education for students who live in the rapidly growing coastal strip, south of Mandurah.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
