Mount Lawley Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Deputy Principal to join our Executive Leadership Team. Ideally the successful applicant will be experienced, dedicated and innovative.

We are seeking applicants to provide Leadership in the areas of Curriculum, Behaviour Management and Student Services. Applicants will ideally be committed to the implementation of restorative processes and collaborative practices and have the ability to lead high quality differentiated teaching practices.

The successful applicant will have an ability to lead, manage and monitor the continuous school improvement cycle and drive the enhancement of high-quality teaching and learning in every classroom of the school. Data literate applicants with strong data analysis skills will be highly regarded.

The Deputy Principal will have the ability to develop the capacity of others to develop and contribute to strategic planning documents and monitor progress and success against key indicators.

As our Deputy Principal, you will ideally have effective interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence, with an ability to develop constructive, respectful, and positive relationships with staff, students, parents, and the wider community.

The successful applicant will ideally have the innovation and capacity to provide instructional leadership enabling staff to implement the strategies outlined in the business plan to achieve the school’s vision and targets. The Principal requires leaders who ideally have a proven capacity to build and support teaching teams to deliver consistent practice across the school.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS

Employees working in, or attending school sites are required to be vaccinated in accordance with the policy.
