Thornlie Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Teacher-English for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.

Thornlie SHS is seeking teachers who can teach English in the lower secondary (years 7 to 10) in addition to teaching a combination of Foundation, General and/or ATAR level courses for Year 11 and 12 students. They should be highly organised and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Teachers who can create a learning environment that is differentiated, challenging, caring, and creative and that caters for the range of needs so all students may achieve and progress are strongly encouraged to apply.

Suitable applicants should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. Applicants will provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, the suitable applicants will work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
