Appointment Pool
We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year, up until the end of Term 1, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year and up until the end of Term 1, 2023.

About the role
We currently have positions available in English, Humanities and Social Sciences and Health and Physical Education subject areas.
Suitable applicants will ideally be highly effective in engaging and motivating students and creating an effective learning environment. Our school
Newman Senior High School is the Iron Heart of Education in the mining town of Newman in the Pilbara. Our vision and moral purpose is to educate and inspire students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.

The location and community
Newman has quality recreation facilities including a swimming pool and two gyms. A number of sports are played for children and adults, book clubs and craft groups meet regularly. The town is near the stunning Karijini National Park. There are a number of waterholes and camping sites nearby.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. If you would like to transition to teaching in English, Health and Social Sciences, the school can support your involvement in the Leap program.
We will also consider an internal secondment opportunity for permanent teachers in other locations within the Department of Education who would like to work at our school for up to three years, and retain their substantive position. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
