About the Roles
Kambalda West District High School has a number of positions available, particularly in the STEM fields. We also offer the opportunity to develop your leadership skills through the LEAP program, so if you are looking to take the next step in your teaching career, we welcome your interest in this pool.
If you do not have a STEM teaching background but would like to be considered for these positions, we would love to hear from you. Primary school teachers who are looking to transition to high school education are also encouraged to apply.
We will also consider a temporary deployment opportunity for permanent teachers in other locations within the Department of Education who would like to work at our school for up to three years and retain their substantive position. Our School
Kambalda West District High School is a friendly and caring school with dedicated and enthusiastic teachers that caters for both primary and secondary schooling in the Kambalda community. We are approximately 600 kilometres east of Perth or 50 kilometres south west of Kalgoorlie. With our current student numbers at 260, our school is growing rapidly. We have a focus on Pastoral Care and Student Engagement programs. Both staff and students are actively engaged in the learning environment and have contributed to making the school a positive and safe place to learn and work.
Kambalda West is proud of its successful VET program and the close partnerships we have formed with the Shire of Coolgardie and Central Regional Tafe.
The Kambalda community has a rich mining history and is surrounded by bushland and copper-coloured soil. The views of the vast saltwater Lake Lefroy and panoramic sunset vistas from the Red Hill Lookout are a favourite of the locals, as is the bush walk that leads you to the Old Red Hill Mine Vent historical landmark.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
