This is a six (6) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2022 with possible extension (6 months)
Kalamunda Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teacher, ideally with excellent interpersonal skills.
As the successful applicant, you will ideally be an innovative and highly motivated educator, with the ability to provide quality teaching in the Humanities curriculum area as part of dedicated team. You should have a passion for the HASS curriculum area and a deep understanding of instructional strategies to effectively engage students in the learning process. You should be a reflective practitioner who actively engages in activities to improve your professional practice.
The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a collaborative member of the whole school community, embracing the school’s vision, values and strategic directions. Kalamunda SHS has an enviable reputation developed over 60 years of providing a quality education to all students. The school is proud of its outstanding achievement in the Gifted and Talented Visual Arts program which is complemented by excellence in academic achievement, languages (three), a specialist program in Outdoor Education and a newly established school based Performing Arts program.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
