About the role
This is primarily a teaching role with a commitment to delivering our Year 7 to 10 literacy programs. The position is suitable for a Primary or Secondary trained teacher with a passion for assisting students in literacy improvement. The Reading Resources/Literacy teacher will also work closely with learning areas to promote and implement evidence-based Literacy best practice, as well as lead our literacy intervention programs and team of literacy teachers. Identification of students who require further literacy support is an integral part of the position and the teacher will work with the Deputy Principal to identify incoming Year 7 students during transition and coordinating time will be provided for this. A targeted support program for Senior School students who are seeking an Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) pass is also an element of the role. Experience with using data to inform planning and knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) planning and reporting will be desirable.
Australind SHS has a well-established Literacy committee with representatives from all Learning Areas, an embedded whole school reading program and common writing and reading frameworks. The Reading Resources/Literacy Teacher will work with this committee to support good literacy practice within the school.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
