This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2022

The successful applicant will ideally be an outstanding K-6 classroom teacher who can continue and enhance current school practices. The application of effective instructional strategies to engage and challenge learners in a supportive and safe learning environment is highly desirable. Applicants will ideally have an expertise in differentiating the curriculum, catering for students of varying ability and motivating them to achieve to their full potential.

In the role, the successful applicant will ideally exhibit success in working in an environment characterised by whole school approaches; collaborative team structures and the opportunity to take on leadership roles and responsibilities. High level interpersonal skills are highly desirable.

At Babakin PS we make a difference in how students feel, learn, and develop so that every student can achieve their personal best, feel happy and build confidence for tackling all life's future challenges. Our school is small, but our ambition for our students is not. We prepare students to take their place in the wider world with confidence and success, guiding their learning from Kindergarten to Year 6 through individual education plans. In addition, we run a 0-4 program called KidzKonnecting at which we welcome young children from the surrounding area to develop their early learning and social skills, accompanied by a parent/caregiver.

We provide students with opportunities to access the Western Australian Curriculum in full, as best meets their age and needs. Literacy and Numeracy are key areas and are prioritised in the morning. Educators work in teams to ensure that all students are supported and extended. Students are taught not just the curriculum subjects, but how to learn, how to study cooperatively and how to think about their learning to make it as powerful as possible. Science and Japanese are taught as specialist subjects. Incursions, excursions and links with technology and the wider world are used to enhance learning and the pleasure of learning.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
