Kelmscott Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic Mathematics teacher to join our school.
The successful applicant will ideally have experience in teaching Mathematics Applications, Mathematics Methods or Specialist Mathematics at Year 11 and 12 level. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant will be dedicated and highly motivated educator with the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Furthermore, the successful applicant should possess excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum; be able to deliver content in an engaging manner; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a highly effective team member. Experience with Gifted and Talented students and an ability to effectively differentiate for both academic extension and Students at Educational Risk (SAER) students is highly desirable. The ability to teach Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) levels will be seen as advantageous.
As the successful applicant, you will lead ongoing improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and programming across lower secondary and support the development of mathematics programs to achieve set targets in the Kelmscott SHS Business Plan. You will be highly motivated and provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experiences, meeting the diverse learning needs of our students. The successful applicant will utilise contemporary teaching and learning practices; implement evidence-based assessment and reporting methods and be able to work effectively within a vibrant team. Our teachers make use of different technologies to achieve student outcomes and are expected to engage students in learning technologies as the basis of active student learning and lesson design.
Kelmscott SHS will implement a school-wide Teaching and Learning Instructional Framework addressing high impact teaching strategies. Teachers will design and deliver lessons aligned to the Framework and receive coaching and feedback. We are seeking a highly reflective teacher with a growth mindset and an active commitment to the Department’s wellbeing priorities. As the successful applicant, you would active participation in professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on your classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching and a desire for continuous improvement. This will involve reflecting and assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and cultivating a safe learning environment for all your students.
We are desirably seeking applicants with knowledge and skills to utilise systemic data such as Student Achievement Information System (SAIS), National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) to address individual student learning needs. Experience in teaching students from an EALD background and those requiring literacy and numeracy intervention in lower secondary are highly desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
