Northam Primary School (PS) is seeking a dynamic Early Childhood Teacher to join our friendly team.
We are seeking an energetic, motivated and highly skilled Early Childhood Teacher to join our dynamic team. The teacher will be able to reflect on their practice and continually strive to develop as a part of our school team to value add to school improvement. The successful applicant will ideally possess a profound understanding of contemporary curriculum and pedagogy with an emphasis on explicit teaching techniques, particularly in the teaching of the Letters and Sounds, Heggerty, Talk for Writing and Top Ten Numeracy, programs. A thorough knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the Western Australian Curriculum and the National Quality Standards, will be highly valued, as will demonstrated expertise in curriculum differentiation. The successful applicant should also have a sound knowledge and interest in the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework and the Positive Behaviour in Schools (PBS) program.
We are seeking an exemplary teacher with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills which underpin professional and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
Northam PS caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and currently has just under 300 students. Students come from the local town and from the outlying farms and rural properties.
The school fosters a safe and inclusive learning environment; we focus on building positive relationships with students, their parents and carers and with the wider community. The staff, comprising of newly graduated teachers through to teachers with many years of experience and our experienced and dedicated non-teaching staff, work together to develop individual potential through excellence in education.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
