Noranda Primary School (PS) is seeking a motivated and engaging Primary Health and Physical Education Teacher to join their team.

The successful applicant will ideally be able to work and teach in a team environment, and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives with a strong evidence based teaching approach to this specialist learning area. We are seeking applicants who will create a learning environment that is differentiated, challenging, caring, and creative, catering for all students.

We are seeking applicants who are motivated and enthusiastic with a keen interest in Health and Physical Education. You will ideally display an understanding and professional knowledge relevant to the primary school Health and Physical Education curriculum.

The successful applicant will ideally have an excellent capacity to communicate clearly and concisely with staff, students, and the community, with the ability to articulate a clear vision complementing and supporting the school’s culture of high quality teaching and learning. Knowledge of the curriculum area, ability to work in a team environment, and a willingness to be a part of a strong and supportive pastoral care system which is implemented through the school is highly valued. The successful applicant will be responsible for the organisation of school and interschool carnivals. At Noranda PS, we have close links to our Network schools, and the applicant will attend and contribute to network PE meetings.

At Noranda PS we deliver an inclusive and engaging program supporting our students to achieve to their best. Our school has a strong focus on literacy, numeracy, and science to ensure students are equipped and prepared for their future years. Specialist programs include Physical Education, Music, Languages other than English (Mandarin), and English as an Additional Language/Dialect. Our teaching and support staff are experienced, dedicated and committed to ensuring each child is a successful student.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
