About the role

Our team of project officers manage a range of programs and projects for attracting and retaining staff in the public education system.

The immediate focus of this advertised position is to project manage our career events promoting the Department as an employer of choice.

Who are we

A number of key Workforce projects are managed within our team:

  • Promotion of the Department as an Employer of Choice with a diversity of career in Education.
  • The Leap program to retrain teachers into specialised areas of need
  • The Casual Staff Seeker online tool that connects public schools with work-ready relief teachers
  • Subsidised employee housing and relocation support for eligible Department staff appointed to regional schools across the state

  • Extensive knowledge of current issues, policies and best practice related to contemporary strategic human resource planning and management, including attraction and retention issues.
  • Highly developed project management skills, including project planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation.
  • Highly developed written communication and presentation skills, including experience in presenting to large groups of people, and in the preparation of reports, Ministerials and briefing notes.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
  • complete
    • the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
    • training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
    • the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment

Applicants are advised of the recently announced mandatory vaccination policy for various occupations and workforces in WA.
