The Department of Education is the WA public sector’s largest employer, with over 55,000 staff across the state delivering quality education to over 312,000 students.
Our Education Business Services Division is a multi-billion dollar enterprise overseeing finance, infrastructure, and information and communication technologies for the Department. This position is an opportunity to drive excellence and reform in business services across the Western Australia public education system.
Reporting directly to the Director General of Education, you will be a senior member of the Corporate Executive team and a key contributor to the Department’s strategic directions. You will also be responsible for ensuring sound corporate governance and compliance with relevant legislation.
You will lead system-wide reform and improvement, and support the Director General in negotiating resources and contracts with State and Federal Governments in relation to the delivery of education services. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be key to these negotiations and to meaningful engagement with a range of school, community and external stakeholders.
We are seeking a progressive leader, and candidates with extensive experience in financial and business services at a senior organisational level are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- Complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
