Safety Bay Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
As the Deputy Principal you will provide educational leadership in the school and community by developing and promoting the school vision and encouraging school staff, volunteers and others to share ownership of the school's vision and goals.
The suitable applicants will use effective change strategies to lead the school community to continually reflect on practices and data, to develop opportunities for improvement and engagement. To be successful in this role you should be a passionate educator, committed to making a difference in the lives of young people
The suitable applicants will lead the school community promoting active student engagement, academic achievement and teacher self-efficacy. The ability to apply flexible and adaptable change management processes whilst maintaining continual improvement is important to the role.
The Deputy Principal will also work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to develop a challenging and relevant curriculum for all students to access and achieve the highest educational outcomes. This role requires a dynamic, innovative leader who demonstrates initiative and problem solving skills. The suitable applicants will ideally have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be flexible and able to work collaboratively with others, whilst having the ability to promote the school’s multitude of successes amongst the wider community.
As Deputy Principal your high level of leadership will build capacity at all levels as you support and work collaboratively with staff ensuring the Professional Learning and Performance Management Strategies empower all staff to realise their potential whilst improving their accountability. The suitable applicants will ideally demonstrate the capability and commitment required to build and sustain a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. Knowledge and experience in instructional leadership, coaching and working as part of a professional learning community is highly desirable. Suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to think and plan strategically and to identify innovative and practical solutions to problems and challenges.

- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS
