Albany Senior High School (SHS)are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.

Albany SHS is seeking a motivated and dedicated Student Support Officer (SSO) to join their Student Services team. The SSO will be integral in providing wrap around support and pastoral care to students.

The SSO will assist with administrative processes and provision of information to students, staff and parents, ensuring a responsive and effective student support service. The suitable applicant's will, under direction, collaborate and conduct discussions with staff, parents/guardians and the community to identify student absenteeism and truancy and to collect and provide case information. The suitable applicant will assist with the implementation of a range of school attendance and engagement strategies.

The suitable applicant will assist in developing and supporting programs for individuals and  groups of students. You will attend and provide support information to multi-disciplinary team meetings, case conferences and other intervention processes. Maintaining information and record systems as well as collating and preparing case conference information is an essential part of the role.

The suitable applicant will, under direction, establish and maintain communication and liaison networks within the school community and with other key stakeholdersparticipate in crisis management and response duties as required. You will provide support for special projects and across School teams as required.

  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience in the use of computerised management information systems including database, spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Effective organisational skills and experience in providing administrative support with the ability to manage conflicting timelines

  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
