Appointment Pool

Can you inspire the next generation to follow their dreams?

Governor Stirling Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Visual Arts Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2023.

Suitable applicants should be highly motivated, student-focused and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful Arts learning experiences. Visual Arts is a highly valued learning area in our school, encompassing a specialist Arts Media course. We encourage the use of innovative and creative teaching strategies, incorporating the ability to differentiate the curriculum according to student needs.

Governor Stirling SHS is seeking applicants with the aptitude to reflect on the effectiveness of their teaching, and who work in a collaborative way with other staff to improve their practice through observation, performance management, and Professional Learning Communities. We are a Positive Behaviour Support school, and the suitable applicants will ideally have strong teaching and classroom management skills, and should develop good relationships with students and engage them in highly effective learning.

It is highly desirable that suitable applicants have experience teaching ATAR Visual Arts, and are familiar with a range of different art forms including both traditional and digital media. The Arts staff are innovative and collaborative in their quest for providing creative opportunities for our students, and the ability to work effectively in a team will be advantageous.

Situated on the banks of the Swan River in Woodbridge, Governor Stirling SHS was re-opened in 2013 with state-of-the-art facilities, offering the Department of Education Gifted and Talented Academic Program, a range of academic and Vocational Education Training (VET) programs and Approved Specialist Programs in Engineering, Arts Media and AFL Football. Governor Stirling SHS prepares students for life after high school with many options for academic and vocational pathways.

Our students enjoy a positive and culturally inclusive learning environment based on the explicit teaching of our school values. We hold high expectations for all of our students, and believe in an educational experience that promotes respect, hard work and achievement where every child is encouraged to become a person of honour and integrity. The suitable applicants should uphold and promote these values, and work collaboratively with all staff to ensure the realisation of our whole-school vision.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

Applications will be assessed against these domains. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.

Applicants may be appointed to a vacancy based on the qualification being completed via the Leap program.
