Paraburdoo Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to join their team.
The Music program has commenced in 2021 with all students newly introduced to some instrumental and choral work. We would like to build on this in 2022. The school has a strong coaching culture which will support any teacher, whether they are a graduate or experienced.
Paraburdoo PS has been revitalised in 2020-21 with a strong pedagogical and student well-being direction. Right on the doorstep of the internationally renowned Karijini National Park doorstep, there are plenty of outdoor adventures to be had. The staff are closely connected and the town offers a range of social and sporting opportunities. With 200 students and several Specialist programs we look to provide our children with as many opportunities to find their passion and strengths. In 2021 we performed a Musical Production which received high community accolades.
The successful applicant should display a commitment to student engagement and the capacity to develop strong positive relationships with students, staff and community members. The ability to provide an enriched, supportive and engaging classroom environment with a focus on pastoral care is highly desirable. The successful applicant will ideally have with basic instrumental and choral knowledge and passion. A willingness to take on an additional teaching role is expected, potentially job sharing a class (level will be decided depending upon the successful candidate). Applicants will ideally have a strong knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be able to deliver content in an engaging manner. Experience with any or all of Talk 4 Writing, Letters and Sounds, Spelling Mastery, Cracking the Code, Top 10 Maths and Friendly Schools would be highly desirable.
The successful applicant will implement a music program for students of mixed abilities, aptitudes and educational needs through planning, preparation, monitoring and assessment. They should understand the different ways in which students learn and the appropriateness of a variety of teaching styles to meet the individual learning needs of each student, and it should be fun. They will also ideally possess sound musical knowledge and technical skill to model and inspire students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
