This is a permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2022
Moorditj Noongar Community College (CC) is seeking a dedicated and organised Library Officer to join their team.
The successful applicant will ideally possess a love of reading and a passion for children’s literature. In this role you will maintain the Library Management System of all school resources with an emphasis on data integrity and availability, including knowledge of computers and data bases. The successful applicant will provide excellent internal and external customer service in response to the information needs of library users and the overall school community and will also perform collection development with an emphasis on selecting and ordering high quality resources that match and enhance the West Australian curriculum.
In addition to this, you will assemble and arrange displays of books and other library materials to enhance lending and awareness of available resources ensuring an inviting environment is maintained. The successful applicant should possess the ability to work in collaboration with teaching staff to publicise, plan and conduct programs for children including recess and lunch time activities.
The College is a systemic school set in the quiet surrounds of Black Adder Creek. There are 120 students enrolled at Moorditj Noongar CC between 3 year old Kindergarten and Year 6. The classes are small compared to other schools and this enables students to receive significantly more teacher-pupil time together. The students live in the Midland area and immediate surrounding suburbs. Attendance rates are high because the children have access to transportation to and from school. Although there is a significant amount of movement to and from other schools many students return to Moorditj because they miss their friends and extended family members within the Indigenous context. The design of the buildings is symbolic of aspects of Aboriginal Culture; e.g. Meeting place for community.
