The Role and our Branch

The Professional Standards and Conduct Division is seeking an Executive Support Officer to join their team.

We encourage all applicants with diverse professional experiences to apply.

The successful applicant will ideally have considerable experience in the delivery of administration support services, including the ability to provide executive support to senior managers and staff as needed. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare and coordinate correspondence and briefing notes, organise travel and accommodation requirements, scheduling of appointments and coordination support of human resource activities and financial matters across the Division.

The Professional Standards and Conduct Division includes the Standards and Integrity Directorate, the Risk and Assurance Directorate, Legal and Legislative Services Branch, and the Personnel Screening Unit.  The Division provides strategic leadership to enable the development, implementation and effective management of policies and strategies that fulfil statutory obligations and ensures that the highest standards of professionalism and integrity are demonstrated by all staff in the Department.

  1. Knowledge of and considerable experience in the delivery of administration support services, including the ability to provide executive support to senior managers.
  2. Sound financial management skills with the ability to administer and report on financial systems and budgets, monitor expenditure, acquit credit card purchases, raise purchase orders and process payment vouchers.
  3. Sound written communication skills with the ability to prepare correspondence, minutes and briefing notes.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
  • complete a declaration prior to employment and annually thereafter disclosing any previous disciplinary findings, criminal charges or convictions, and ongoing conflicts of interest
  • complete
    • the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
    • training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
    • the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
