Dalmain Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated, dynamic and hardworking Science Teacher to join our friendly staff.
The successful applicant will be a science teacher who builds trust-filled, quality relationships with students, parents and staff. You will ideally have the skills to be able to support and encourage the students to achieve the aims outlined in the Western Australian curriculum and the School Business Plan. To be successful, you will ideally have outstanding science curriculum knowledge, high emotional intelligence, be a high-quality teacher and be able to deliver an outstanding science program. Having a strong background and knowledge of ICT and STEM skills will be advantageous.
As a Science Teacher at our school you should foster student curiosity, inspire a love of Science and prioritise creative and critical thinking within an investigation-based program for students in Years 1-6. You will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills that will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. The successful applicant will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students in the classroom and extra-curricular contexts.
The successful applicant should also encourage the use of scientific vocabulary in their teaching to enhance the communication skills of students. The successful applicant will also provide students with a strong level of support to achieve their best. In this role, you will provide high work standards and make connections with prior learning in the science curriculum to build a richer understanding of science.
Dalmain PS is an Independent Public School with a student population of 280 students located in the northern suburbs of Perth, approximately 20km from the CBD. The school has developed a dedicated science room which is well resourced. Our school has established an enviable reputation within the region for delivering a high quality educational program within a caring and supportive school community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
