Appointment Pool

Parkwood Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic and innovative Early Childhood and Primary Teachers (K-6) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.

Parkwood PS opened in 1975 and sits adjacent to Lynwood Senior High School. The school has a student enrolment of approximately 560 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. An Intensive English Centre (IEC) is located on the school grounds and is an integral part of the Parkwood Community. The IEC supports EAL students; refugee students and students with limited English.

We are seeking dedicated teachers who are child focused and who have high expectations of student achievement. Suitable applicants will ideally be highly skilled and motivated educators, who are committed to placing student outcomes first and foremost. The capacity to work collaboratively in Professional Learning Communities will be highly desirable. Suitable applicants will ideally have strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work cooperatively with others to create and maintain a positive learning environment for students and families. We seek teachers who are committed to improving themselves and others.

Applicants should possess a strong capacity to plan challenging and engaging programs applying an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum. Suitable applicants should be committed to Parkwood PS whole school curriculum strategies including HiTs – High Impact Teaching Strategies and High Quality Teaching and Learning. There is a commitment by staff to addressing the educational, social and emotional needs of our students through SEL programs; Highway Heroes and Health and Wellbeing Frameworks. A sound understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework and targeting student need that is learning-focused is desirable.

Our school culture has a strong values-base where staff, students, parents and community members are treated with respect. We also aim to develop in our students an understanding that learning is to be enjoyed and should be enthusiastically pursued. An ability to apply PBS (Positive Behaviour in Schools) and CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) approaches to establish and maintain an organised, orderly and child-centred classroom is beneficial.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

Applications will be assessed against these domains. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. Applicants may be appointed to a vacancy based on the qualification being completed via the Leap program.

The Department is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
