John Tonkin College is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Health and Physical Education Teacher to join their team. Experience in delivering Year 11 and 12 Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Health Studies is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will utilise their motivational and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and create an engaging teaching environment for students in the Health & Physical Education learning area. In addition, the successful applicant will ideally be a dedicated and highly motivated educator with the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. You will ideally have excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum, be able to deliver content in an engaging manner, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a highly effective team member.
The successful applicant should be improvement focused and should be committed to their own ongoing professional development. John Tonkin College places significant focus on the quality of the teaching and learning that takes place with a particular focus on maximising student engagement and student learning outcomes. The successful applicant should have a genuine interest in working in collaboration with the Head of Learning Area (HOLA) to lead improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and student achievement across Year 7 to 12. Experience delivering ATAR Health Studies is highly desirable.
John Tonkin College, centrally located in the City of Mandurah, and provides outstanding opportunities for secondary students. The college offers a broad choice of courses and programs for Year 7 - 12 students in the Peel region as well as the southern metropolitan corridor.
John Tonkin College is named after one of Australia's longest serving politicians, John Tonkin. The late John Tonkin was a teacher, then education minister and then Premier of Western Australia. He valued fair play, hard work, tolerance, patience and believed in correct and proper teaching that developed good relationships with students.
The Department of Education Approved Specialist Surf Science Program is offered at John Tonkin College. This program engages students in marine environment studies and outdoors pursuits and is suited to students who have a strong academic work ethic.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.
