Kelmscott Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Design and Technologies Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
The role focuses on developing students’ skills in the use of tools and machines and in bringing design projects to fruition using a variety of materials. The suitable applicant will ideally have experience planning and teaching in one or more of the following contexts; Years 11 and 12 Materials Design and Technology, Years 7-10 general technologies courses including the contexts of Woodwork and Metalwork. A TAE certificate and experience in the implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum in lower school Technologies is highly desirable.

As part of standard practice, the suitable applicants will ideally be able to reflect on and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practices, using a variety of methods and apply that knowledge to catering for different student learning needs. Being student focused and collaborative, applicants should ideally be able to display positive learning outcomes for students across Years 7 to 12 and an ability to provide relevant and engaging courses linking to the Western Australian Curriculum.
In this role you will have the ability to work as part of a collegiate team and be solutions focussed. As a member of staff at Kelmscott SHS you will work collaboratively with your colleagues in developing an enriched technologies curriculum and use evidence based decision-making skills to ensure curriculum improvement is paramount. These skills will see you negotiate effectively and build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels including colleagues and parents/caregivers.
The suitable applicants will possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. You will support the implementation of the school’s Business Plan, work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and focused on an evidence based approach to teaching through data analysis and self-reflection.
We are seeking applicants with knowledge and skills to utilise systemic data such as Student Achievement Information System (SAIS), National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) to address individual student learning needs. Successful applicants should demonstrate active participation in professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching and ongoing improvement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
