Mount Lawley Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of inspirational and dedicated Teachers of Mathematics for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
Suitable applicants will ideally be highly effective in engaging and motivating students and creating an exciting learning environment. They will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills and work closely with students, staff and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. Suitable applicants will work as part of a dedicated team to develop, review and deliver the Mathematics curriculum. The ability to teach Year 11 and 12 Mathematics Methods and Mathematics Specialist is desirable. They will ideally have strong teaching and classroom management skills and develop positive relationships with all students to engage them in effective learning.

Suitable applicants will ideally have proven skills in behaviour management, curriculum expertise and have achieved high levels of student achievement in Mathematics. They will ideally have a commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach in planning for improved student outcomes. There is encouraged that staff engage in reflective practice, informed by a close examination of student performance data and respond with relevant improvement plans. Teachers will work collaboratively with peers and within their various teams as part of a professional learning community.
There is an expectation that all staff employed by the school have a focus on pastoral care and a commitment to forming positive working relationships with students. Staff will engage with parents to assist student learning and ensure there are no surprises about student progress.
Founded in 1955, Mount Lawley SHS is located within a residential suburb 5 kilometres north of the Perth CBD. It comprises three sub-schools; Middle School - Years 7 & 8, Upper School - Years 9 & 10 and Senior School - Years 11 & 12. It hosts a Gifted and Talented Languages program, an approved Specialist Visual and Performing Arts program, a Jazz Music program and the innovative Aboriginal Excellence Program. The school offers a breadth of curriculum choices and has a rich history of student success and achievement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
