The Western Australian College of Agriculture – Harvey (WACOA - Harvey) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking Teacher – Agriculture to join their team.
The successful applicant should ideally be able to display a range of strategies to deliver differentiated curriculum and support students in a diverse senior secondary context. The position will mostly involve the teaching of Animal Production Systems and Plant Production Systems to year 10, 11 and 12 students but may also include other subjects according to timetable needs. A knowledge of senior secondary curriculum from year 11 and 12 General and ATAR will be advantageous as well as the initiative to engage and extend student learning using the extensive farm resources available. Highly developed interpersonal skills focused on collaboration, building and maintaining positive relationships are key to being successful in this role.
WACOA – Harvey is located about 1.5 hours south of Perth Western Australia, 20 minutes from the coast and 40 minutes north of Bunbury. The College is a specialist Agricultural and related trades training school and attracts students from across Western Australia with the majority attending as boarders. Students apply to attend the College with a genuine interest in the curriculum offerings being the main desirable attribute. As a result, students are motivated and engaged in their learning.
Students graduate with the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and a range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications plus an ATAR score for those selecting that pathway. A thorough grounding in theory and practice ensures that students are readily employed on leaving the college.
The learning and work environment is unique with the College located on a commercially operated farm and possessing significant Trades facilities. Teaching staff are encouraged to use these contexts as they are motivating for our students. A range of additional extra-curricular activities throughout the year add value and interest for staff and students.
In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered. In this circumstance, a fixed term appointment as an untrained teacher for the remainder of the 2021 school year will be offered.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
