Ravensthorpe High School (DHS) is seeking a professional to be part of our team as our Teacher – Secondary Generalist.
We are seeking an innovative, proactive and flexible team member with a growth mindset that will eagerly take on the challenge of implementing a diverse and engaging curriculum for our Secondary students. Subject areas include Mathematics and Science.
Ravensthorpe DHS currently have 133 students enrolled in total and supporting the whole student is a priority for us. We offer a comprehensive curriculum with an emphasis on using meaningful learning strategies to engage our students. Provision of innovative technologies is prioritised with all secondary students having access to one-to-one technology, in the form of notebook computers. On a daily basis, all primary students have daily access to a class set of netbooks and iPads. Electronic boards are located in every primary classroom, including the secondary English classroom; interactive smart boards are utilised in all other classrooms.
The school invests strongly and proactively builds its partnerships with parents and the wider community and has an extremely active and supportive Parents and Citizens Association and school council. The local area contains the Fitzgerald Local River Park which offers great exploratory options and is complemented by the Hopetoun beaches. The community is a welcoming one with many local events, sporting teams and opportunities to be involved in. The school values of Care, Ambition and Respect are demonstrated by our students, staff and school community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
