The North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre (NEMLDC) is seeking to establish a pool of inspirational and dedicated Early Childhood Education Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 and 2022 school years. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 and 2022 school years.

NEMLDC successfully meets the individual learning and social needs of students who have been identified as having Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Our specialised, evidenced-based, early intervention language programs are planned in collaboration with teachers, speech pathologists and education assistants and are shared with parents. In addition to this individualised specialist language program, students participate in and develop the relevant skills and knowledge associated with all aspects of the Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework.
Suitable applicants will work within a collaborative team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and possess a strong evidence-based approach to teaching. As an Early Childhood Education Teacher, you will provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging and differentiated to cater for the specific needs of all students with language learning difficulties. Suitable applicants will have a good understanding of and ability to deliver the Western Australian Curriculum and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Suitable applicants are provided intensive, specific training and induction to develop their skills and understanding of DLD and how to best support the needs of the students and are provided ongoing support and learning through allocated coaches, performance development and collaborative learning.
To be suitable for this pool you will ideally be flexible, energetic and prepared to engage in partnerships with teacher colleagues, speech pathologists, parents and other agencies. The ability to apply current evidence-based research to classroom practice is highly desirable. Suitable applicants will be provided with the necessary professional learning including the Hanen Early Language Programs. We are seeking experienced teachers with strong classroom and positive behaviour support skills to successfully engage students and facilitate their learning. You will also ideally use innovative technologies to enhance student learning. Applicants are encouraged to provide examples that show knowledge of oral and written literacy teaching and learning in their applications.
NEMLDC has close to 300 students and operates over two campuses which are co-located with West Morley and North Balga Primary Schools. Classes are small in size and supported by a range of staff. Teachers can be located at either campus and may change sites over time. Applicants will be required to support the school environment, through the maintenance of a school culture that values effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider school community. Collaboration within our school and across our community is important to our school. Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

- Professional engagement.
