Newton Moore Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Humanities and Social Sciences Teacher who can inspire students, strives for excellence and is proactive in improving student outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will have a passion for Humanities and will be able to creatively plan and deliver lessons in an engaging way to motivate students to learn and reach their academic potential. The successful applicant will be highly organised and have excellent written and oral communication skills and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.
As a teacher at Newton Moore SHS you will participate as an integral member of the teaching team and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, delivering learning programs to students according to the needs of the school community. We are continually building an ethos where committed, expert teachers engage and support students through explicit teaching and excellent and innovative classroom management strategies.

The ability to analyse and use data to support teaching, assessment and reporting will be held in high regard. High levels of self-reflection need to be demonstrated, including showing an ability to evolve and change classroom practice as a result. Newton Moore SHS is an Independent Public School (IPS) located in Bunbury, a coastal city 175kms south of Perth. We have a strong commitment to offering innovative and best practice educational programs. The school delivers two Department of Education Approved Specialist Academic Programs: Science Horizons and Engineering Specialist. Newton Moore SHS is a Lead Language School and supports with training and assisting staff across the South West. The school is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for Certificate II in Aquaculture and Certificate II in Business.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
