This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2021 

Perth Modern School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and hardworking Human Resources Officer to join their friendly administration team.

As the Human Resources Officer, you will provide a high level of advice and support to the Manager Corporate Services and Executive in the human resource aspects of the school's operations. You will provide assistance in the implementation and coordination of staff recruitment, merit selection and appointment processes.

The successful applicant will also manage the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), including the coordination of leave and teaching relief staff, payroll processing and validation, reporting and reconciliation of staffing allocations and budgets. To undertake relief coordination.  The duties would fall outside normal school hours.

Perth Modern School, a proud government school, is Western Australia's only fully selective school for academically gifted students in Years 7 to 12. Centrally located in Subiaco, the school provides a differentiated and compacted curriculum that develops the skills of gifted students. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
  • Sound written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with staff and work within a team environment.
  • Sound knowledge and skills in human resource management, including research, planning and recruitment practices.
  • Conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to implement appropriate strategies.

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
