Morley Senior High School (SHS) are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our friendly school.

Morley's vision is to celebrate diversity and cater for the needs of all students, with the goal of everyone achieving their personal best.  We strive to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations in a supportive, engaging and vibrant learning environment.  Students in Years 7 to 10 have access to engaging programs, including Department of Education approved specialist programs in our Aviation Academy and School of Screen and Media.  All students in Years 7 to 9 also study a language and have the opportunity to participate in activities associated with our exchange partnerships with sister schools in Singapore, Japan and China.

The successful applicant will ideally possess expertise in planning and teaching English, as well as Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General courses. Knowledge and use of English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD) teaching strategies is desirable.  You should also have the capacity to teach competently in a second area if necessary.

Morley SHS achieves exceptional results in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy), OLNA (online literacy and numeracy assessment) and WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education).  We are looking for an expert, passionate teacher with a commitment to excellence in teaching in their learning area. You will ideally have the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school curriculum and have proven success in achieving exceptional educational outcomes for all students. We are looking for an applicant with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.  These skills will see you negotiate effectively and build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels including colleagues and parents/caregivers.  The successful applicant will be flexible and will work collaboratively with staff and students to provide an engaging and relevant learning environment to inspire and motivate students to learn.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
