Newton Moore Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to employ a motivated, pro-active Network Support Officer.
The role of the Network Support Officer is to provide the effective maintenance of IT infrastructure, resources and networks in the school to maximise both educational and administrative outcomes. The Network Support Officer will work within the Departments Standard Operating Environment (SOE) framework and ensure the integrity of educational and administrative data through the implementation and maintenance of data security strategies.
The successful applicant will provide advice to school administration on new and changing ICT resources and be responsible for the coordination and implementation of these within the school environment. You will provide advice on technical issues associated with the network and deliver technical support to all users throughout the school.
Newton Moore SHS is looking for an individual who is self-motivated and innovative, with strong organisational skills in delivering and prioritising tasks when under pressure. You will ideally possess good verbal and written communication skills to be able to liaise effectively with other ICT staff, school administration and be able to develop and maintain documentation relevant to the outcomes required.
It is desirable that the successful applicant has experience in providing ICT support services including change management and ICT project implementation experience, helpdesk management or working within a structured helpdesk system, troubleshooting network problems, software deployment, understanding wireless technologies, liaison with other organisational ICT support personnel, managing data security and disaster recovery processes for school managed file servers.
Please note that the suitable applicant will be engaged under the Public Service Award and will generally be required to work during school vacation periods.
Support staff at Newton Moore SHS make an important contribution to student progress and achievement through the support of school management, teaching practice and the maintenance of positive relationships with students, parents and the community at Newton Moore SHS. Additionally, support staff contribute to outcomes that align with the school vision, business plan and other operational targets by providing assistance to the teaching staff, student services and pastoral care team and school administration.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Knowledge of network systems and platforms relevant to the operating environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to the operational maintenance of Information Technology networks.
- Organisational skills, including the ability to plan and implement data security procedures.
- Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients.
- Practical experience in developing and implementing user-training procedures.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
