Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/SA673247
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2021
Mount Lawley Senior High School has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and committed leader with experience and expertise in working with Aboriginal secondary students to help them reach their potential. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a premier school with a reputation for excellence.
The Follow the Dream: Partnerships for Success Program is a voluntary out-of-school support program targeted at aspirational Aboriginal students. The program aims to support Indigenous students to excel academically, complete secondary school and achieve entrance to University. Although university entrance is the primary goal, the program also supports students to achieve other tertiary placements such as Vocational Education and Training (VET) and an apprenticeship or traineeship or the employment of their choice.
The outreach component of the program delivers the Follow the Dream program to seven other metropolitan secondary schools, that do not have a sufficient number of eligible Aboriginal students from Year 7 through to Year 12 to establish a stand-alone program. The successful applicant will be required to undertake extensive liaison with Aboriginal students and their families, teachers, tutors, and outside agencies to deliver the program requirements.
The successful applicant must be resourceful, innovative, organised, collaborative and able to identify the needs of students in the program. As Program Coordinator, you would manage, in collaboration with the Steering Committee, the identification and selection of students into the program and case manage each student through the development of an individual learning plan.
The Program Coordinator is also the executive officer of the Steering Committee that includes representatives from the host school, tertiary institutions, community and outreach schools. The committee works with the coordinator to design and implement the program delivery.
The Program Coordinator is also required to plan and conduct several events during the year including cultural days, camps, NAIDOC celebrations, visits to tertiary institutions and graduation events.
