The WA College of Agriculture – Cunderdin (WACOA) is seeking to appoint an honest and reliable Technical Officer – Butcher/Slaughterman to join their exceptional team.
We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our College farm team to manage the day to day activities of the College abattoir and butcher shop. Duties including process, packing meat, orders to kitchen, maintaining and implementing HACCP plan. The successful applicant will be someone who displays integrity, initiative, and has a willingness to teach others and or to learn. Being able to work with students in a team environment in a teaching/training capacity is also highly regarded. Ideally the person would have the relevant skills in both slaughter and butcher; however, competence in butchering is essential. We are able to provide training to gain slaughtering competence.
You will be required to help in a wide range of general agricultural tasks including supporting cropping and livestock production systems. Duties will include operation of machinery and equipment, assisting with the daily duties of Livestock enterprises. The officer will supply basic mechanical and farm maintenance duties and undertake rostered weekend duties as required.
The successful applicant will have the ability to work as part of a team and with upper secondary students in years 11 to 12 delivering and assessing units of competency to small groups of young adults. The college requires you to hold a C class drivers licence and you will be required to gain HR licence and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment within 12 months of commencement.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
Please note: The salary level for this position will be determined after the successful applicant is assessed as addressing all eligibility and selection criteria indicated in the relevant attached JDF in the context of the outcomes and selection criteria described.
The highest rate an applicant can start at as a L1 is Level 1.4 (as negotiated with the principal). However, applicants may still be able to commence at a L2.1 or L3.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience.
Level 2, $62,172 - $67,256 per annum (PSCA 2019)
Level 3, $70,896 - $76,717 per annum (PSCA 2019)
