Narrogin Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a highly focused and enthusiastic teacher to play a key part in progressing programs within our Home Economics department.
The successful applicant will have high expectations, possess a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment. They will have an outstanding knowledge of Home Economics as well as be flexible and adaptive in their approach to teaching.
The successful applicant will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. They will build positive relationships with their students and be passionate about creating positive futures for students. They will be performance driven and use evidence based decision-making skills.
Ideally, you will be able to embrace the integration of ICT to create a positive environment, conducive to learning and providing educational opportunities; which provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs. The successful applicant will engage in ongoing self-reflection while assessing the effectiveness of teaching practice.

As the only Senior High School for 100kms in all directions, Narrogin Senior High School is a genuine comprehensive educational institution. Narrogin SHS is situated in the heart of Western Australia’s richest agricultural area. The town of Narrogin is a major service and educational centre approximately two hours drive from Perth. The hinterland is a farming area with grain and wool production the major primary activities.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
