Mount Lawley Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and innovative individual to join their Leadership Team in the role of Program Coordinator - Inclusive Education.
The successful applicant will be able to promote and support inclusive practices within Mount Lawley SHS and will help create an environment where all students are able to reach their potential. A key component of this role is to lead special educational needs staff and develop processes to enable staff to provide exemplary service and support to students with disabilities and special educational needs.
This is a strategic position that requires the successful applicant to possess the ability to critically reflect upon, review and refine school practices; and to work with the Executive team to respond to areas requiring improvement.
As the successful applicant, you will ideally be able to facilitate professional knowledge, interagency links and parent participation to enhance positive educational outcomes for students with learning disabilities and difficulties.
In this role, you will work closely with staff to ensure there is a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students, focusing on the development of the whole child.
Founded in 1955, Mount Lawley Senior High School was rebuilt in 2004 and is located within a residential suburb 5 kilometres north of the Perth CBD. It comprises three sub-schools; Years 7 & 8, Years 9 & 10 and Years 11 & 12. It hosts one of two Gifted and Talented Languages programs in the state, an approved Specialist Visual and Performing Arts program, a Jazz Music program and the innovative Aboriginal Excellence Program. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
