Bayswater Primary School (PS) is seeking a positive, motivated and dedicated Drama/Dance teacher to join our team.
The successful applicant will possess expertise in curriculum, assessment and reporting. They will have knowledge and experience of explicit teaching which is used to plan engaging, inclusive and challenging lessons catering for the diverse needs of students. Fostering a positive attitude towards dance and drama and student academic achievement will be the core of the work.
The successful applicant will have the skills to collaborate effectively within these teams to create innovative learning opportunities for our students. A highly reflective teacher with a growth mindset and desire for continuous improvement.
The position requires a teacher who has excellent interpersonal skills and can foster positive relationships with students, staff and community members. Additionally, they will be highly organised and utilise innovative initiatives to successfully coordinate and implement a range of school programs and events including, but not limited to individual, class and whole school dance and drama performances. They will need to be able to think ‘outside the box’ in devising programs that take a holistic and whole school view of the Dance and Drama program, actively engaging all students and maximising participation.
Bayswater PS was established in 1894 and is located in the North Metropolitan Education Region some 7 kilometers from the central CBD. Bayswater PS has a highly professional team of school leaders, teachers and education assistants who deliver explicit and engaging teaching and learning programs across all learning areas. Each teacher at Bayswater PS is part of a collaborative team. Staff work together to ensure that the school’s Explicit Teaching Model is consistently delivered and they share quality teaching practice and processes.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
