The Early Childhood Education Branch is seeking a highly motivated and committed Project Consultant – Universal Access to join their team.
In this role the Project Consultant – Universal Access will work in a small cohesive and diverse Early Childhood Education team to improve the learning and development of Kindergarten to Year 2 children.
The Project Consultant – Universal Access will co-lead development and implementation of targeted professional learning for early childhood teachers and school leaders, including the exemplification of quality areas of the National Quality Standard (NQS). They will also participate in on-site verifications of school’s self-assessment against the NQS, and implement, monitor and evaluate a range of Statewide strategies and projects.
The successful applicant will possess excellent writing and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate and negotiate with key stakeholders across a broad range of settings. You will have strong organisational and time management skills, and ability to meet conflicting deadlines, allowing you to work on different projects on behalf of the team.
Some intrastate travel will be a requirement of this role.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Highly developed skills, knowledge and experience in the application of policies, procedures and issues associated with early childhood education initiatives.
- Highly developed oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to consult, negotiate effectively and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly developed written communication skills, including experience in preparing reports, briefings and general correspondence.
- Substantial experience in initiating, developing, coordinating and managing programs, projects or strategies in an educational setting.
- Highly developed research, conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to analyse data and provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems and issues.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised teaching qualification and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- hold or obtain a current valid ‘C’ class Western Australian driver’s licence
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
