This is a thirty-six (36) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2021

Fitzroy Valley District High School (DHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Design and Technology (Manual Arts) to join our team; who has the capacity to deliver courses across the Design and Technology contexts.

Applicants possessing the ability to teach in the VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VDSS) domain would be a benefit. Applicants possessing or have the ability to obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and have Industry Currency in construction or Engineering will be highly desired.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work collaboratively with others, engage positively with students and strive to meet the different learning needs of all students. They will ideally have contemporary Design and Technology curriculum knowledge, allowing them to design, differentiate and deliver learning programs to students in Years 5 – 12. Fitzroy Valley District High School has a state of the art workshop equipped with the latest equipment and a separate state of the art ventilated machine room. The workshop also has an adjoining enclosed outdoor workspace which hosts VET courses such as Automotive and Engineering Pathways.

Fitzroy Valley DHS is situated in the picturesque Fitzroy Valley in the rugged Kimberley region of Western Australia. The town of Fitzroy Crossing is situated on the banks of the Fitzroy River and lends itself to the outdoor adventure lifestyle. Many camping and fishing spots such as Geikie Gorge and Tunnel Creek are situated close by. Fitzroy Crossing is located 380kms to the regional tourist attraction of Broome. Fitzroy Valley DHS is a Department of Education Remote Community School.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
