This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2021

Are you an inspirational and experienced educational leader committed to building a culture of excellence in teaching and learning? Are you looking for a professionally rewarding career at a newly opened secondary school?

Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) seeks to appoint a Head of Department (HOD) – English with the experience, dedication and drive to develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning in the English Learning Area. Due to the rapid growth in student enrolments and the implementation of Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses in 2021, Harrisdale SHS seeks to appoint a second English HOD to work in collaboration with our current English HOD.

As the successful applicant, you will be a key member of the school leadership team. Your role will include responsibility for the leadership and management of the English Learning Area across Years 10, 11 and 12. You will be excited at the unique opportunity to lead development of the senior school and in collaboration with a dedicated team of English teachers. As the HOD – English you will be an expert classroom practitioner with a passion for English and the demonstrated capacity to build a culture of excellence in teaching that supports the learning needs of all students.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have the experience and professional knowledge to lead staff and curriculum development in the English Learning Area. You will share a commitment to Harrisdale SHS’s school wide pedagogy and emphases on pastoral care and co-curricular programs, and will actively promote the school’s vision, mission and values in the school and community.

Harrisdale SHS offers a wonderful opportunity for local students to access a high-quality secondary education close to home. Currently, the school has an enrolment of 1,270 students in Years 7 to 10.
