Exmouth District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2021.
We are seeking qualified secondary English teachers with a genuine passion for student learning. The suitable applicants will be teaching English in the secondary area. A knowledge of the English ATAR curriculum, processes and procedures may be an advantage. The suitable applicants would desirably have high expectations of student achievement and progress and take pride in supporting and challenging all students. They would also understand how students learn best and be able to differentiate learning to meet these needs. All our teaching staff participate in the Classroom Management Strategies/Instructional Strategies program so skills in co-operative learning would be advantageous. As part of a vibrant professional learning community, the suitable applicants would ideally engage in supportive peer observation and be a collaborative member of one of the high performance teams currently operating within the school.

Exmouth DHS is a proudly Independent Public School with close to 470 students from K - 12. Exmouth is a coastal community of situated in the remote North West of Western Australia. Located about 1250km north of Perth, 850km north of the large regional city of Geraldton and 550km south west of the Pilbara mining operations in Karratha. We are surrounded by Cape Range National Park and are the gateway to the unique Ningaloo Reef, recently listed as a World Heritage site. There is a permanent population of approximately 3,500 people which swells to thousands more during peak tourist periods. Due to the number of tourists visiting Exmouth the town has many amenities which would not normally be expected in a town of its size.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
