Clarkson Community High School (CHS) is seeking to appoint an innovative and dynamic teacher of English to join their friendly team.
We currently have the following positions available:
- two (2) x Three (3) month fixed term, full-time positions
Both positions will commence Term 4, 2020.
The successful applicant will be a conscientious and dedicated teacher who strives to create positive, respectful and productive relationships with students, parents and staff. You will utilise your comprehensive knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum to teach students operating at multiple levels of competence, differentiating the curriculum to extend the learning of all students and providing timely and constructive feedback. Ideally, you will be able to exhibit sound classroom management, be proactive in reinforcing good mental health practices with students, and employ an evidence-based approach to inform planning.
To be successful in this position, you will be highly organised and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Additionally, you will have the ability to effectively employ technology and work constructively as part of a team. You will also be resourceful and pursue excellence in your practice through self-reflection, engagement with professional learning and school-based performance improvement strategies. A capacity and eagerness to support primary school literacy would be highly desirable. A willingness to engage in the delivery of teaching and learning in a second curriculum area would be highly desirable. Both experienced teachers and graduates are encouraged to apply.
Due to the small cohorts at our school, teachers are often required to teach across other learning areas. As such, applicants who are willing to and/or have experience in teaching Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics and Science are strongly encouraged to apply.
Inviting student involvement is an emphasis at Clarkson CHS, with a focus on high-quality teaching and curriculum activities that engage and extend students. We are a faculty-based community high school providing high-quality education in Years 7 to 12 in the North-Western suburbs of Perth. The school has approximately 50 staff and 400 students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
