Harrisdale North Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Music & Performing Arts to join their dynamic team. As a foundation staff member, you will support the development of the school’s culture, vision, values and strategic direction. You will have responsibility for establishing a quality program, including the purchasing of resources. Initially, the role will include 0.2 FTE in a classroom tandem teaching position.

Ideally, you will be committed to implementing evidence-informed practice and formative assessment to meet the needs of a wide range of student abilities.
The successful applicant will have a thorough understanding of the WA Arts curriculum and use the judging standards to effectively assess and report student achievement in Music, Dance and Drama. You will plan, teach, and assess challenging and engaging programs, promoting an environment of active and positive learning.
As the Music & Performing Arts teacher, you will be highly motivated and committed to the promotion of the Arts within the school. You will co-ordinate and develop an innovative program across Pre-Primary to Year 6 to excite and inspire students. You will teach a range of instruments which may include guitar, ukulele, keyboard, and percussion. You possess the vocal and choral skills to teach and manage our choir, and lead them in school and external performances.
The successful applicant will have a background in organising and coordinating music and performing arts school events. Forming strong links with community groups and engaging with outside agencies is integral to this role in developing the school’s music and performing arts program. Your willingness to take on extra-curricular activities to enhance learning opportunities for students will be highly regarded.
You will have high expectations of yourself and students. You will work collaboratively to initiate and engage in professional discussions with the Specialist Team and other colleagues to reflect and continually strive to improve your practice. You contribute to our high quality teaching and learning environment through continuous professional learning, self-reflection, engaging with current research, data analysis, coaching and peer observation and feedback.
You have effective interpersonal skills and are able to develop positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and the wider community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students and develop our new school. Your willingness to commit to weekly meetings will be valued.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
