Atwell College is seeking a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Mathematics teacher to join our innovative team. The successful applicant will be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as an engaging and energetic teaching style. You will reflect and assess the effectiveness of your teaching practice using a variety of methods available within the College, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential.
You will support the implementation of the college’s Business Plan, work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole College approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence based approach to teaching. The successful applicant should have experience in a wide range of teaching models and differentiating the curriculum. Adopting inclusive practices, building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role. Applicants will ideally have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12 in a highly engaging manner. Strong knowledge and skills in teaching Year 11 and 12 Mathematics Specialist is advantageous.
The successful applicant will possess a strong working knowledge of teaching strategies to support numeracy skills development and strong performance in National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). Atwell College is committed to improving the literacy and numeracy skills of our students in Lower School to support their achievement across the Year 7 - 10 curriculum and to provide a solid platform for success in both General and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) courses in Senior School. Strong knowledge and skills in the effective integration of Science, Technology and Engineering (STEM) into classroom teaching and learning is also desirable. The successful applicant will have the required knowledge and skills to scaffold difficult concepts, apply a range of engaging teaching strategies and develop a positive classroom learning environment, that fosters in students a genuine passion for Mathematics and the desire to achieve their best.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

Eligibility

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
